经济学"嘟嘟老师"Mr.Druham离开家乡加拿大已经2年了，今年趁着暑假终于回到故土，对他来说这是一个非常特别的夏天，热情的他十分乐意与我们分享了他的夏日风情。

My Canadian Summer

This summer was very special for me indeed. It was the first time I had been back to Canada in almost two years. Canada is far away, and the plane tickets are expensive. This means that I don’t have a chance to go home and visit my family very often. I am from the city of Calgary in the province of Alberta, located in Western Canada. Contrary to popular belief, Canada is not a barren wasteland of ice and snow. The summers are beautiful and the people love to go out and enjoy activities in nature and festivals held around the city.

这个夏天对我而言的确意义非凡。因为这是我在在离开加拿大近两年后第一次回到故土。加拿大很遥远，机票更是不便宜，这意味着我少有机会回家看望家人。我出生在加拿大西部阿尔伯特省的卡尔加里市。和流言相反，加拿大其实并不是一个常年被冰雪覆盖的不毛之地，这里的夏天很美，人们喜爱外出游玩，喜欢在大自然中游戏，经常参加全城举办的节日庆典活动。

My summer was characterised by a few simple, but precious activities. I enjoyed my mother’s delicious home cooking, watched sports and movies with my brother, and I attended the Calgary Stampede （a world famous rodeo）。 My mother spoiled me with all my favourite foods because I don’t get home very often. A few of the best dishes I ate included steak, salmon, lasagna, and pot roast, to name just a few. These are pretty traditional western dishes. They may not be as delicious as Chengdu cuisine, but you should try them all if you get the chance. 

简单却珍贵的活动充斥了这个夏天：享受妈妈烹制的美味家常菜，和哥哥一起观看足球节目和电影，参加卡尔加里牛仔节（一个世界著名的竞技比赛）。因我不能经常回家，这次，妈妈便把对我的爱都化为了所有我爱吃的食物，有牛排、鲑鱼、烤宽面条和炖肉，当然，还有很多很多美味，在这里我就不一一列举了。这些都是很正宗的西餐，可能你们会觉得不如川菜那么可口，不过，我建议如果有机会，你们应该去尝一尝。

I relaxed in my parents’ condo watching the World Cup of soccer and was very happy with the result. My mother’s family is from the French province of Quebec, so I happily cheered on France to victory. I also watched the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team （Go Jays!）， but they did not have a great team this year unfortunately. 

在父母的公寓中，日子惬意而放松，我观看了世界杯比赛，比赛结果于我而言是十二分的满意。因为母亲的家族是从带有法国韵味的魁北克省迁徙而来的，所以我为法国队的胜利欢呼雀跃。我还看了多伦多蓝鸟的棒球比赛，但不幸的是他们今年并没有一支脱颖而出的好队伍。

Finally, I watched the Stampede parade one day and watched the Bull riding event as well. The Stampede is a huge celebration of cowboy and western culture. Basically, the city shuts down for ten days for a big party, and everyone wears blue jeans to work. It’s a lot of fun and is a part of my culture.

另外，我还参加了牛仔节，观看了骑牛比赛。牛仔节对西方文化和牛仔们来说是一次隆重的活动。为了这次盛会，整座城市基本上会对外关闭十天，这段时间所有人都会穿着蓝色牛仔裤去上班。这是一个非常有意思的节日，它也是构成我文化的重要部分。

I hope all of my students also had a great summer and has returned to school invigorated and ready to learn. I also hope that someday you get a chance to visit my country and experience some of the welcoming and beautiful sights in Canada.

我希望我所有的学生都度过了一个愉快的夏天，重新充满活力地返回校园，希望你们已经准备好开始新学期的学习。同时，我希望你们在未来能够有机会去我的国家游玩，亲身体验加拿大美丽且热情洋溢的自然风光和人文风情。
