然而，仅从他人笔下获取到的信息总还缺少那么一抹灵动之色，想要认识进一步认识他们除了到剑桥高中和他们面谈外，听他们自己讲述各人的精彩也是一个不错的办法。本期，剑桥高中推出的【师说心语】系列完全由外教们执笔，讲述他们想要与之分享的精彩。第一期，剑桥高中人气外教——经济学教师Mr.Durham。

Mr. DuDU

　　This is my first year teaching at the A-level centre of ShiShi High School, but my fifth year teaching in China. After experiences teaching in Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces I can confidently say that this is the best school and city I have known.

　　今年是我在石室剑桥国际高中课程任教的第一年，也是我在中国任教的第五年。因为有之前在江苏省和广东省工作的经历，我能很自信的说，石室剑桥是我所了解的最好的学校，成都是我待过的最好的城市。

　　Chengdu, and the ShiShi centre in particular feel more personal and kind to me. The main school may be large, but the international centre feels very small and close knit. Every day I go for lunch on the street in front of the school gates and my students greet me. They help me to place my food order, teaching me new Chinese phrases. At the same time I enjoy making conversation with the students about their favourite sports, University ambitions, and any other topic that our chat leads to.

　　与以前任教过的地方相比，成都和石室剑桥课程中心让我感觉更亲切更友善。石室中学很大，但国际部规模不大，因此人与人之间感觉联系更加紧密。每天中午我在石室中学前门外的小街吃午饭时都会有我的学生来跟我问好。他们帮我点餐，教会我新的中文单词。同时我也很享受跟学生们聊他们最爱的运动，聊他们想申请的海外大学等等话题。

　　This easy going dynamic between teacher and student extends into the classroom. I try to inject humour into my classes and make jokes with my students. We work incredibly hard, and any chance to have a laugh is a great relief. I first came to know that my goofy Canadian jokes were being well received when my IGCSE students gave me the name Mr. DuDu. So if you join us next year, you can catch my attention by calling out my nickname. You will likely find me trying a new and different kind of Chinese meal, the spicier the better.

　　老师与学生之间的这种良好的互动从课外延伸到了课内。上课时我尝试把幽默带入课堂，经常跟学生们开开玩笑。老师们教得很努力，学生们学得很辛苦，所以任何一个开怀大笑的机会对我们来说都是一种放松。当我知道我的IGCSE（高一）学生们给我起了个外号“嘟嘟老师”的时候，我第一次明白原来我那些调皮的加拿大式笑话学生们是完全消化了的。所以如果下一个学年你加入到我们课程，你可以叫我这个外号，我一定会最先注意到你。说不定你还会发现我正在尝试一种新的中国菜，并且越辣越好。

　　Strong English language skills are necessary for success studying at a University abroad. I emphasise both spoken and written language skills in my classes. Practice constructing effective written answers is achieved by using past exam papers set by Cambridge Assessment.  This is critical for academic success.  Some students are resistant at first, to following my strict approach to writing style. But as the year progresses, the quality of works submitted is improving, and I see students abilities have grown by leaps and bounds since the first day we met.

　　在海外大学要能学有所获，英语能力非常必要。因此在我的课堂上，我会着重培训学生的英语口语及写作技巧。我引导学生们做剑桥考试中心题库中的试题从而让他们练习如何写出完整的书面答案。一开始有些学生不太情愿按照我对书面答案写作的严格要求来答题。但随着时间的积累，学生们提交的作业质量逐渐提升，与初入学时相比，学生们的能力也有了巨大的进步。

　　Time does fly by when you are in school. The best memories come from the fun activities outside the classroom. There are too many to list them all. My favourite activities have been student dramas and musical performances, the Christmas party (where Santa Claus visited!), and sports day. This year the international school teachers placed second in the teachers’ race. With the support of the students we will aim for first next year.

　　在学校的日子确实感觉时光飞逝。最有趣的记忆来自丰富的课外活动，好玩的事简直不胜枚举。我的最爱是学生的戏剧、音乐表演、圣诞节晚会（圣诞老人也来参加了的哦！）和校运会。这一届校运会国际部老师们在团体接力赛中获得了第二名。在学生们的全力支持下我们正朝着下一届的第一名努力。

　　Joining the A-level centre would be a good choice for three years of study. Come prepared to work hard and have lots of fun. The key to success is a positive attitude and an interest in learning. You will make friends for life, so make sure to take many of pictures and enjoy your time.
