《绝境狼王》Wolves of the Beyond是美国作家凯瑟琳·拉斯基的奇幻文学系列作品，共六本，以被弃小狼福狼Faolan的传奇故事为线索，讲述了福狼的成长历程及其带领边缘之地的动物抵达“远方之蓝”的故事。
Today I want to introduce a set of books to everyone. Well, I think it’s necessary for us to know the writer first. Kathryn Lasky, a famous writer from USA, has already published over 70 books. She is famous for writing children’s literature, and more than half of them are about animals——for her husband is the photographer of the , so they have many opportunities to go deep into the animals living environment to do some more research.
This set of books I want to introduce to you is named 《Wolves Of The Beyond》。It has contained 6 books, but I will not enumerate their names.
The protagonist in the book is called Faolan. He was born as a “malcadh”， which means “cursed” in ancient wolf word. Every pup who were born with disability will be called as malcadh, and they will be took from their mother by “obeah”， the yeld she-wolf, which will take them to a special place called “tummfraw”， where have a terribly bad condition that the poor little pups can only wait for death. Faolan’s tummfraw was on the bank of a thawy river, and the turbulent water rushed him off the bank with a little piece of ice that he was on. Fortunately, Faolan was saved by a hopeless grizzly bear, who had just lost her child and wanted to die. “As the sun lifted over the horizon, she saw its light reflected in the cub’s two eyes. And then she saw an image that shocked her. It was her own reflection in the eyes of an animal that was not born of her kind.‘It’s a wolf,’she thought.‘I seek death, and it seeks life.’” About the name “Faolan”， the writer explained: “Fao” means both “river” and “wolf”， and “lan” is the word for gift. Anyway, from the moment that Faolan had been saved, his legendary life had truly begun.
In this set of books, the characterization of personage is excellent. Figures are extremely vivid that make you really want to be a part of them. Apart from this, the story line is also unexpected and full of ups and downs, left a large imaginary space to readers in the ending. In this set of books, the writer doesn’t mention “the brave” deliberately, but we can feel it strongly in the story. What the writer tried to tell us from the story is that if you really want to be “the brave”， you must have enough courage to experience many setbacks which will make your heart stronger; you should never give up, keep hope in your mind, then you will be unstoppable. Furthermore, nobody can be successful in doing anything, that’s to say you need some friends to help you and support you. It will be very helpful for you to share the happiness and pain with your friends. A team can achieve more than an individual because it can bear more.
Now, this set of books attract a lot of people to read them, not only for the fascinating plot, but also for people in different age groups can learn different thing from it （of course, most are children）。 If you can feel a little bit interests from my words, and you do have that time, you can try it.
